Fit Guide

FERROUS LAB SIZE SYSTEM

FIT GUIDE

Jewelry should not only look right — it should sit right, move right, and feel right. Use this guide to understand how FERROUS LAB pieces are designed to fit across necklaces, earrings, rings, bag charms, and pant chains.

Before You Measure

All measurements are approximate. Fit can change depending on body shape, styling preference, clothing thickness, hairstyle, layering, and where you want the piece to sit. When in doubt, compare the listed product measurement with a piece you already own and like.

01 / Necklaces

Necklace Fit

Necklace length changes how the piece frames your neck, collarbone, and outfit. A shorter chain feels sharper and more structured; a longer chain gives more drop and movement.

Common Length Reference

Length Fit Feel Best For
14–16 in
35–40 cm
Close to neck / collar fit Layering, fitted tops, statement center pieces
18 in
45 cm
Classic collarbone fit Everyday wear, most necklace styles
20–22 in
50–56 cm
Sits lower on chest Oversized tops, layered looks, relaxed styling
24 in+
61 cm+
Long drop fit Visual length, statement styling, looser silhouettes

How to Check Your Fit

Use a soft measuring tape, string, or charging cable. Place it around your neck where you want the necklace to fall, then measure the length flat with a ruler.

For a structured FERROUS LAB look, choose a length that keeps the main pendant or chain detail visible above your shirt neckline.

If the product includes an extender chain, the fit can usually shift between a closer and looser position. Check each product page for the listed chain length and extender range.

Layering Tip

For layering, leave around 2 inches / 5 cm between each necklace so the pieces do not visually collapse into one line. If you want a more tangled, stacked look, choose closer lengths.

02 / Earrings

Earring Fit

Earring fit is mostly about visual weight, drop length, and comfort. If you wear earrings for long hours, choose a size that feels secure and does not pull downward on the ear.

Size Reference

Type Approx. Size Fit Impression
Small Stud / Detail 4–8 mm Minimal, daily, subtle shine
Medium Detail 10–25 mm Noticeable but easy to wear
Drop / Dangle 30 mm+ More movement, stronger visual line

Comfort Notes

If your ear piercing is sensitive, start with lighter pieces for longer wear.
For asymmetrical or statement earrings, check the product photos for scale, drop direction, and how the piece sits on the ear.
If you are used to small studs, larger dangling pieces may feel heavier at first even if they are wearable.
Remove earrings before sleeping, showering, or heavy activity to protect both the piece and your ear.
03 / Rings

Ring Fit

A ring should slide over the knuckle with light resistance and sit securely at the base of the finger. Fingers can change size throughout the day, especially with temperature, salt intake, or movement.

At-Home Measuring Method

Wrap a thin strip of paper or string around the finger you want to wear the ring on.
Mark where the ends meet. Make sure it is snug, but not tight.
Lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters. This is your finger circumference.
Measure the same finger more than once, preferably at the end of the day when fingers are usually slightly larger.

US Ring Size Reference

US Size Inner Circumference Fit Note
5 Approx. 49 mm Smaller finger fit
6 Approx. 52 mm Common smaller fit
7 Approx. 54–55 mm Common medium fit
8 Approx. 57 mm Common larger fit
9 Approx. 59–60 mm Looser / larger finger fit
10 Approx. 62 mm Larger finger fit

Between Two Ring Sizes?

If the ring is wide, chunky, or stacked, sizing up can feel more comfortable. If the ring is thin or adjustable, your usual size may be enough. Adjustable rings still have a comfort range, so avoid bending them repeatedly.

04 / Bag Charms

Bag Charm Fit

Bag charms are designed to attach to handles, zippers, belt loops, hardware rings, or strap points. The best fit depends on the attachment point and how much movement you want.

Attachment Guide

Placement Look Fit Tip
Bag Handle Visible, decorative Best for larger charms or pieces with stronger presence
Zipper Pull Functional, subtle Choose a lighter charm to avoid pulling too much weight
Strap Ring Balanced, secure Good for chains, layered charms, and moving parts
Belt Loop Accessory / styling piece Check clasp size and leave enough room for movement

Before You Attach

Check that the clasp or ring can close completely around your bag hardware.

Avoid attaching heavier charms to delicate leather, thin zipper pulls, or fabric loops that may stretch.

If the charm has chain movement, give it space so it does not catch on seams, corners, or other hardware.

For daily use, attach the charm to a stronger ring, handle base, or strap connector rather than a fragile zipper tab.

05 / Pant Chains

Pant Chain Fit

Pant chains are meant to create movement across the hip, pocket, or belt-loop area. Fit depends on where you clip it, how low you want it to drape, and how much movement you want while walking.

Drape Reference

Fit Style Visual Effect Best For
Short Drape Clean, close to body Minimal outfits, daily wear, less swinging
Medium Drape Balanced movement Most styling, jeans, cargos, layered looks
Long Drape More dramatic line Statement outfits, oversized silhouettes

How to Measure

Decide where the chain will attach: belt loop, pocket edge, waistband, or bag hardware.
Use a string to map the curve you want the chain to follow.
Measure that string flat. Compare it with the product length listed on the product page.
For more movement, choose a slightly longer chain. For a cleaner fit, choose a shorter drape.
Make sure the chain does not hang too low for stairs, biking, sitting, or daily movement.

Measurement Notes

Product pages may list total length, chain length, pendant length, drop length, inner diameter, or clasp size. For necklaces and pant chains, total length usually means the full end-to-end measurement when laid flat. For earrings, drop length usually means the distance from the top attachment point to the lowest point of the piece.
